Read your recipe very carefully the night before. Make sure you have all the ingredients and understand exactly what you will be doing. Do your preparation in advance. Pre-weigh your ingredients and prepare any vegetable or meats as outlined in the recipe in advance. Lessons are very busy, and you will need to leave enough time to present your dishes for assessment and pack away for safe storage.Practice your Mise en Place or start of lesson routine. You will have a little time to do the following at the beginning of every practical lesson, so make sure you can do it quickly and efficiently. Wash your hands, tie your hair back, put your apron on, remove any jewelleryand get your recipe out.Spray down your workstation with anti-bacterial spray. Set up all your ingredients on a white tray and put your bag under the table. Get all the equipment out from your workstation and place on the hob or table. Put your oven on if you need to and grease and line any trays or tins. Listen silently for the register. Read and follow your recipe carefully. Try to work as independently as possible.If you do not understand fully either ask a friend or put your hand up and wait foryour teachers help. Tidy and wash up as you go along.
